Importing Frozen Fruit, Dried Fruit and Coffee from Vietnam into the EU
Since the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) entered into force in August 2020, the EU has removed import duties on most fruit and vegetables from Vietnam. To claim the preference, the shipment needs valid proof of Vietnamese origin.
Origin and tariff preference
For EVFTA preferential treatment, consignments travel with a certificate of origin form EUR.1 issued in Vietnam, or with an origin statement on the invoice for consignments of up to EUR 6,000. Your customs broker confirms the duty for the exact tariff code.
Food safety rules buyers check
Pesticide residues in fruit must meet the maximum residue levels (MRLs) set under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, and contaminants must meet the limits in Regulation (EU) 2023/915. Many EU buyers also ask for an annual or per-lot residue report from an accredited laboratory; tell us your requirements and we include them in the contract.
Coffee falls within the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Importers placing coffee on the EU market must collect due-diligence information, including the location of the plots where it was grown. Ask us what traceability information is available for your lot.
